The mystic knot is the largest and most complex of the basic knots. The smallest (common) mystic knot is four square cloverleaf knots arranged in a square, merged together. Any number or type of cloverleaf knots can be merged to create almost any (usually flat) shaped mystic knot. Having said that, the most common building blocks are the ones that tile best, which is to say the square and hexagonal cloverleaf knots.
